Urban Decay Art Piece

While working at a landscape design firm in California, I was given the task of imagining a public art piece located outside of a new commercial building in Redwood City, CA. My concept included steel I-beams and logs planted with ferns to showcase the process of decay and, in a sense, add the redwoods back to Redwood City . In collaboration with others, this concept transformed into standing basalt columns amidst a new grove of redwoods and understory plants.
